R.I.P. Firefighters

Granite Mountain Hotshots

I checked facebook last night and saw a post saying that 19 firefighters had died last night fighting a fire in Yarnell, Arizona.  I was shocked and saddened...close to tears actually.  I feel so bad for their families and for all the families that lost their homes last night.  We drive through Yarnell on our way home from Prescott, so I am familiar with the area.  The picture above was cut and pasted from another blog and is reputed to be a picture of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, out of which 19 are no longer with us.

From the Prescott Newspaper

"United Way of Yavapai County is opening an account at National Bank of Arizona for the benefit of the Hotshots families and our Yarnell neighbors who've lost their homes. We'll collaborate with the Prescott Fire Department and Yarnell city government for how the funds are disbursed.

The account should be operational mid-day Monday. Please go to www.unitedwayyavapai.org for more information."
