Walking around Ponderosa Park

My parents bought a cabin in Ponderosa Park, Prescott back in the early '70s and we are able to enjoy it every summer. Ponderosa Park is in the National Forest about 5 miles outside of Prescott. Since I have my marvelous new camera, I took a little walking tour of the area and got a few shots.

This is a photo of a unique mailbox. I really like the wood.

I'm not exactly sure what the purpose of these prayer flags were (which I really think are face towels)

Here is a photo of one of the older cabins in the area. It was for sale last year but the sale sign is gone and I don't know what the status of it is.

And here is our litte cabin. It was built in the 50s by a man and wife who pitched a tent on the property and built it by themselves. The rock they carried in from the surrounding area and according to their grandson, they dug the basement out after building the house. There are two bedrooms and one bath with an upstairs loft. It was one of the first two built in the area.

Gift for a friend

A month ago, I took a sewing workshop and learned how to make the "Deli Tote Bag". I made one from monkey fabrics and I actually use it every day to take my lunch to work. My friend Mary, just had a birthday this month so I created one for her as well. Since she loves cats, I found a really cute cat fabric to make it from. Here are some photos of the finished product.

Playing with the new camera

So, as I mentioned earlier, you can trim and correct red eye right on the camera before downloading it to the computer. Here are two photos showing the untrimmed and trimmed version of Roscoe. Don't know how often I will use this feature but I think it's pretty cool.

Computer troubles and crazy busy at work

My lovely Toshiba laptop has been down and out for the past week and in surgery getting fixed. It's back now but I have not had time to post even from work because of how busy the past week has been.

The new camera arrived and I love it! It's just the size I was looking for and I was even able to shoot a couple of shots while walking the dogs because I was able to carry it easily in my back pocket. The menu wheel is like the wheel on an ipod and since I can work one of those, I had no trouble with this camera's wheel. It also can trim photos right in the camera instead of taking it to the computer and can correct red eye right in the camera as well. One drawback is that I cannot change the ISO setting if it is in automatic mode. But I can change it when in Manual and it goes from 80-1600 which is higher than in my Canon S3. I know it creates more noise but sometimes you just don't want to use the flash.

Anyway, I'm still playing and experimenting and will hopefully have some photos up soon.

Tax Incentive check

Here is what I'm spending my tax incentive check on. Thanks Uncle Sam. I decided I wanted a smaller, lighter weight camera to carry around in my purse. I was also looking for more megapixels. I have been researching for several months and finally Canon came out with three new elphs. I found no negative reviews or comments on the SD790 and it pretty much matched up with everything I was looking for. Plus, I got it for $50 less than suggested retail and half price shipping from Amazon. Can't beat that with a stick. A lot of this camera's features are also on my Canon S3 so it won't take long to figure out how to use it. I guess the most difficult thing is going to be getting used to the new menu wheel. It's totally different.

Tuesday Tunes-Trace Adkins & Abbott & Costello

The Dbacks were big losers last night. Maybe they'll do better tonight.
