Charity quilts

My sewing guild has made a quilt to donate to Glencroft Retirement Community. Every March, Glencroft has a quilt auction and some of the proceeds are used as financial assistance to residents who have depleted their personal resources. Last year, Glencroft made over $150,000 in the auction.

The quilt we decided to make had a southwest theme and members were required to either hand or machine embroider a quilt block, paint a block or applique a block. We named our quilt, Southwest Travels.

Another member of our guild was working on her own quilt but got tired of it so donated it to the guild to finish. Hers in the pink and green one seen in the photos below.

Wow! How do I bid on these?

Very pretty quilts, QD! At the nursing home where Mom spent her last days, they used small washable quilts rather than blankets. I'm not sure, tho, that cotton is what i want when it's cold -- perhaps a quilt made from those brilliantly colored microfleeces -- I could really go for one of those...

Anon: You go to Glencroft Retirement Center on March 4 from 9:00 to ? which is located at 67th Ave & Olive in Glendale, Arizona to bid on the quilts. I know who you are; you're not fooling me :-))

GrannyJ: Living in Prescott, cotton might not be the best way to go for warmth. Wool batting would be better for your climate. But the microfleece that's available is great.
