Some rose photos

I'm still taking photos to try and complete my class final which needs to consist of 3 leading line photos, 3 framing photos and 3 rule of thirds photos. So, I went to the Rose Garden which is a few miles south of my house. The roses weren't that great but my photos were even worse. Here, I'm just posting the cream of the crop.

Today is Wednesday

And you know what that means!! Yup, the second episode of Project Runway is on tonight. I love Project Runway!!! And I'm thankful that there are re-runs on soon and often after the original showing since it starts at 11:00 and I can't stay awake that long. We aren't big T.V. watchers in my house and we don't have Tivo or a digital recorder meaning I have to rely on the re-runs. But tomorrow is a holiday so I can stay up as late as I want.

Joy! Joy! Joy!

Review of the high school reunion

The reunion was quite fun. There were lots of people I knew and there was more than just our year there as well. There were a few people who looked exactly the same as they did back in 1977. No extra pounds and no extra wrinkles which was really amazing. The majority had changed in their looks. The men, for the most part, had put on many pounds which was pretty surprising because so many of them were athletes. The women, looked as good or better than they did in high school. There were some who had put on several pounds but not that many.

Even though I rented the motel room, it turned out I really didn't need it but it was nice to only have to drive two miles instead of 20-30 to get home. I had two glasses of wine the entire time. Mostly, because I was extremely conscious that I would need to be driving later but also, it's hard to pay $5.00 for a glass of wine when you know the entire bottle they are serving from cost the same amount on sale!

There were no public announcements made at all during the reunion and I think that may have been the only thing that was missing. It would have been nice to have some kind of report from the committee but there was not.

Of course, I received some sad news about friends who had passed away or were in the midst of a divorce or something. But the worst thing was to hear that my very first friend I had at the age of 4 had become addicted to meth. I just could not believe it and had to cry later when full realization hit me. Even though we rarely saw each other, I just could not imagine him even trying something like this. It saddens me so much.

I'm debating whether or not to post pictures. Because they were taken at night, they are not the best but I probably will post them sometime this week.

High School Reunion

Tomorrow night is my _____ high school reunion. I'm kind of excited about it but not as excited as I was when I first heard of it. From what I hear, there won't be too many people there but I think the committee people have a nice event planned for us. One of my best friends from high school will be there even though she was a year behind me. So, I'm happy I will know at least one person pretty well.

The reunion is in Goodyear and I have obtained a hotel room just down the road from the location of the reunion. Just in case I'm having a little too good of a time and drink a little bit too much wine. I will be taking my camera along and hope to get a few decent shots to send to people.

There is also a picnic on Sunday but I don't think I'll be going to that. Our street is having a potluck later that day and I need to get ready for that. So, it will be another busy weekend for me and then we head into the Christmas season.

Leading lines

Our last photography class assignment was to find leading lines to photograph. Apparently, leading lines are prevalent in our world but they can be difficult to find to photograph. Here is my attempt at leading line photos:

I know that a problem in these photos is the leading lines don't lead you anywhere. There should be an interesting subject in them. I'm still learning and have a ways to go.

Annual sewing luncheon

My little sewing group had its annual luncheon last Saturday. Besides gettting together to eat and talk this is also our prime time to display our show & tell and plan projects for the coming year based on the show & tell. The ladies in my group are extremely talented and the things they make are amazing. This year, I did not have any show & tell at all but I don't plan on making that a habit. It's just that photography and other life events have kept me out of the sewing room. Anyway, here are several of the items from our luncheon:

Beverly's "tin boy" grandson

Maria's "I Spy" quilt

Linda's sampler quilt

Linda's Christmas Wreath quilt

Anita's embroidered dresser scarf

Unis's Latte Quilt

Unis's Santa Claus

There are still a bunch more photos to post but I will wait until tomorrow to upload them.

Arizona Water

My significant other has been very busy on an Arizona water question that came his way at the Office of Administrative Hearings. He filed his recommendation to the Arizona Department of Water Resources last week and several newspapers have reported on it. The first is a Flagstaff newspaper, the next is a Las Vegas newspaper, and another is the Mesquite, Nevada paper. I also heard it was written up in USA Today but I have been unable to locate that one online. Looks like the Arizona Republic didn't pick up the story.

Halloween was pretty hollow

Got home from work yesterday and rushed to the Y to get my exercise in. Boy! Everyone must have been celebrating Halloween because there was nobody there. Very pleasant for a change. Rushed through my cardio (or as much as you can rush through a 30 minute cardio) and rushed through my weights and then rushed home to walk the dogs. A very hasty walk I will add.

While out on the walk, there seemed to be plenty of trick or treaters about so I thought there would be at least several coming to our door during the evening. Wrong!!! There was only one group of four who showed up. Now, what I'm I going to do with a 3 pound bag of candy and an additional bag of Smarties?

I'll have to ask our neighbor how many kids stopped by his door last night.
